About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is known to reduce pain and tension, improve energy and mood, and treat addiction among many other benefits. Acupuncture is currently one of the most thoroughly researched, practiced, and respected forms of complementary medicine available anywhere.

We refer to Traditional Chinese Medicine as an umbrella term for these ancient natural healing practices: acupuncture, chinese herbal medicine, and cupping massage. While it is likely that many ancient cultures practiced some form of acupuncture, we have the earliest records from China over 2500 years ago. Nowadays, acupuncture is acknowledged by the World Health Organization and even recently by the FDA as a beneficial therapy and pain relief alternative to opioid medications.

Auricular Acupuncture and Depression/Anxiety

Ear needles, or auricular acupuncture are a great introduction to acupuncture for those who may feel nervous about needles. They are inserted only 1-2 millimeters and can interrupt pain and distress signals to the brain. Studies have shown that this time of acupuncture is particularly effective at treating anxiety and depression, and even some forms of addiction and weight control problems. Results can often be felt immediately, and we offer complimentary ear seed stickers after treatment so the benefits can last throughout the week.

Cupping

Cupping is a deeply relaxing treatment that you can combine with acupuncture or choose as a needle-free alternative. This form of deep tissue massage relieves aches and chronic pain to boost circulation and strengthen breathing and digestion. I place specialized silicone "cups" onto specific points on your body, and then use suction to draw your skin up into the cups. It doesn't hurt — it simply draws fresh blood to that area of your body, which facilitates the cleansing and strengthening of your Qi (energy). The end result is a faster muscle recovery from injuries and exercise, and overall higher energy and wellness.

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a potent treatment for pain, nausea, and chronic ailments. Using the exact same system of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I insert very thin and sterile needles into specific points along the meridians of your body. I then attach the needles to a device that delivers gentle electrical pulses between two points. This helps restore the healthy flow of Qi (energy) through your body, removing any blockages and clearing out stagnant areas, thus creating a stronger and clearer experience of health and well-being.
